BEFORE YOU BEGIN

SEVEN THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIRST CONVERSATION — AND EVERY ONE AFTER IT.

01
Show up honestly
The more genuine your input, the more useful the output. Leave your ego at the door. Saying "I've been feeling stuck and I don't really know why" will take you somewhere real. "I want to improve myself" won't.
02
Be specific
Vague questions get vague reflections. Instead of "why do I get stressed?", try "I had a reaction yesterday that surprised me — can you help me understand what was underneath it?" The more grounded the question, the sharper the insight.
03
Have a conversation, not a transaction
Your cognitive map builds through dialogue, not single exchanges. If an answer doesn't quite land, push back — "that's not quite it, let me try again." Nothing is locked in. You're always in control of where the conversation goes.
04
Give context about where you are
Claude can't see your life — you have to bring it. "I'm in the middle of a difficult situation at work and I keep responding in a way I regret" gives it something real to work with. The more context, the more accurate the mirror.
05
Ask it to reflect, not just respond
Try asking "what pattern do you notice in what I've just told you?" or "what am I not seeing here?" That's where Cognitive Mapping does its best work — not in the answer, but in the reflection it surfaces.
06
Don't perform. Just talk.
There's no right way to show up to a session. You don't need to have it figured out or sound articulate. The messier and more honest your thinking, the more accurately your map gets built.
07
Want shorter answers? Just ask.
If you want a concise response, simply add "short answers" to the end of your question. Claude will keep it brief without losing the substance.
The biggest unlock is remembering that Cognitive Mapping is a mirror, not an oracle. It can only reflect back what you bring to it. The more honestly you show up, the clearer the picture of your own mind becomes.
SESSION
Part of navigating this kind of conversation is knowing when you've reached your own natural stopping point. There's no right time — only yours.

ABOUT

Inner Mapping was built because I needed it — and I didn't know I needed it until I started using AI to have honest conversations I'd usually hide away from. No judgement, no repercussions, just honest, structured, unopinionated guidance.

But nothing held onto what I learned. Nothing showed me the patterns over time.

So I built something that does.

Inner Mapping isn't therapy. It's for people who wouldn't go to therapy — who would otherwise sit with it alone and gradually get worse. But it's also for anyone curious about how their own mind works. It fills that space without excluding anyone. A place to be honest, build self-awareness, and understand the patterns that shape you.

Built by someone who has been there. Designed for people who get it.

YOUR DATA

Everything is stored locally on your device only. Nothing is sent to any server except the conversation itself, which goes to Anthropic's API to generate responses.
